- THIS IS WHAT 145 LBS LOOKS LIKE. I was hesitant to post this because I know I have a lot of family members and co-workers who follow me that may not approve of me showing this much skin. This is my page and it’s my body so if you are uncomfortable, you can unfollow me. That being said this isn’t something I usually post about but I’d like to share for the sake of anyone else who’s trying to live a more healthy lifestyle. About two weeks ago, something finally clicked and I decided that I was going quit smoking, eat only lean proteins/vegetables/fruit, cut down on drinking, and get back into my yoga practice. It’s only been two weeks (one week for the cigarettes) but MAN do I feel good. My head is clear, I am able to start practicing healthier thought patterns, my clothes fit better, and I can feel my body getting stronger everyday. Yesterday I hopped on the scale for the first time in probably 6 months to see where I was at to record a start weight (last time I was 137lbs at the doctors office) and saw the number 145. For a minute I freaked OUT. Something had to be wrong with the scale because if that was true, this is the heaviest I’ve ever been. LJ trying to rationalize with me attributed it to gaining muscle mass which is possible but unlikely as I’m only doing very low intensity strength training at this point. I took a look at myself in the mirror and thought “well, if this is what 145lbs looks and feels like, I’m okay with it.” I think sometimes people (women especially) put too much stock in a number and let it affect the way we feel about ourselves which is INSANE. If you feel good both physically & mentally, you’re doing yourself good. You also need to make sure you #treatyoself every once in a while. If maxing on wings and shitty beer a few times a month keeps my thighs a little thicker and my hips a little wider, so be it. If I have a slip up and have a cigarette or two I’m not going to beat myself up about it, just try to do better the next day. My happiness is much more important than a number on a scale or feeling like I “fit” into society’s mold of what women’s bodies or health in general should look like #endrant #bodypositivebitch 🙌🏻
